“lucy", the first collaboration between ART ON STAGE, founded with the mission to attract new followers in contemporary art and bodig, known for its projects questioning the relationship between new media technologies and the body; is inspired by the fluctuating inner world of a fastidious, bohemian, ecstatic, fragile, creative and powerful new generation.The exhibition invites this generation and their contemporaries to reunite with their imaginary friends, to confront their spontaneous decisions, to listen to and hum together non-existent melodies that linger in their heads, to participate in the primitive quality of the notion of time, and to go back home with one red apple after spending two hours at a vegetable market.

The exhibition co-curated by Derya Demir and Aylin Kalem will open on 21 March at URA!

During the exhibition, on 20 March, the last date when night is longer than day, artists Rudolfo Quintas and André Gonçalves invite viewers with their lighters and matches to an interactive sound performance, ‘burning the sound’ they are going to perform at Studio-Live. In their performance the artists analyze the contemporary strategies of invisible control using fire.

The event will begin with a performance by one of the most innovative composers in Turkey, performance artist and sound designer Tolga Tüzün (TR) and before ‘burning the sound’ and 'feltro', ururu (TR) will present a performance featuring processed real-time images of the physical body. After ‘burning the sound’, the night will conclude with Diana Combo’s (PT) performance where she is going to try to make everyone hear and believe that brand new spots and lines appear on her records every time they are listened to, by burning them, breaking them and gluing the pieces back together.

The day after the exhibition opening, artists Sara Nuytemans and Rudolfo Quintas will speak at the 4th floor of Platform Garanti Contemporary Art Center on how they turn their imaginary worlds into reality using media technologies. André Gonçalves will go one step further by organizing a one-day long arduino* workshop downstairs.

Sergi, bu nesli ve çağdaşlarını hayali arkadaşları ile tekrar tanışmaya, anlık karanlıkları ile yüzleşmeye, kafalarında dolanan yok melodileri birlikte dinlemeye ve mırıldanmaya, zaman mefhumunun ilkelliğine ortak olmaya, ilk'lere verdikleri tepkilerini hatırlamaya ve bir sebze pazarında iki saat geçirip eve kırmızı bir elma ile dönmeye çağırıyor.

Sanatçılar performanslarında ateş yoluyla görünmeyen kontrolün çağdaş stratejilerini inceliyor.

Açılışını Türkiye'nin en yenilikçi bestecilerinden, performans sanatçısı ve ses tasarımcısı Tolga Tüzün'ün (TR) yapacağı gecede, 'burning the sound' öncesi ururu (TR), fiziksel bedenin işlenmiş gerçek zamanlı görüntüleriyle sunacakları performansları ile izleyicilerin karşısında olacak. 'Burning the sound' ve 'feltro' sonrasında ise Diana Combo (PT), her dinlendiğinde yepyeni lekeler ve çizgiler kazandığına kimseyi inandıramadığı plaklarını yakarak, kırarak ve tekrar yapıştırarak herkesin bunu duymasına ve inanmasına çalışacagı seti ile geceyi sonlandırıyor.

Sergi açılışının ertesi günü ise Platform Garanti Güncel Sanat Merkezi'nin 4. katında Lucy sanatçılarından Sara Nuytemans ve Rudolfo Quintas kafalarındaki dünyayı yeni medya teknolojileri ile nasıl gerçeğe dönüştürdüklerine dair bir konuşma yaparken, André Gonçalves bunu biraz daha ileri götürerek alt katta bir günlük bir arduino* atölyesi yürütecek.

bodig is an Istanbul based arts initiative founded in 2007, focusing mainly on the issues of the body in contemporary arts and digital culture. Its artistic understanding has a multidisciplinary scope, bringing a variety of fields together, like dance, performance, visual arts, design, architecture, new media, engineering and medicine, in order to bring forth a reflection and artistic creation around the issues of the body in its contemporary and technological context.

ART ON STAGE

ART ON STAGE is an organization for development of a contemporary art/club culture crossover and a platform to bring multidisciplinary performance works and artists with the Istanbul audience. The roots of ART ON STAGE started blossoming, while the founder Derya Demir was producing, English contemporary artist Phil Collins's work called The World Won't Listen. During the production of the work Demir and Collins develop a performance party as a site event during the opening days of the 2005 Istanbul International Biennial. The event became a legendary success like the work itself. After this big hit, Demir started to work with local bands and contemporary artists, to make them to collaborate each other, in Autumn 2005. Initiated in January 2007, as an audience development project, ART ON STAGE made its first event Tobias Bernstrup: A Real Gameboy, on November 16th 2007 and quickly appealed to the national, international performance and contemporary art scene. Till the events based on contemporary art/club culture crossover and transdisciplinary performances turned into a published organization, for those events she worked with Oliver Pietsch (video artist), Ilyas Odman (performance artist), Neriman Polat (video artist), Cevdet Erek, Ufuk Senel(performance artist), Ece Kalabak (video artist), Ha za vu zu (artist group), Justin Bennett(sound and installation artist), Soren Helvildt (sound artist), Jacob Kirkegaard (sound and installation artist), Asmundur Asmundsson (video & performance artist) among others.
